platinum slash4x4
had 5 minutes today so i started to break in my mamba setup, gotta readjust the gear mesh it sounded loud also i want to eliminate reverse.i ran into my leg when i stopped and hit the trigger again{idiot}dont want to do that again!!!!!!!just call me "hobbles" hahaha im picking up another 3s lipo this week so i can see how different it feels with the extra power, should be interesting.i tried to get my grandson to trade his slash for my strike, but he wast falling for that.he started asking me when we were going to fix up his slash with the red parts that i told him about!!!outsmarted by a 4 yr old!!!!!!!!!!!like grandpa like grandson, guess i have to get my own slash and hop up his and mine.later boys, gotta love this new website!!!!!!!!!!
Re: platinum slash4x4
Are you keeping the monster in the 4x4 or are you still planning to put the stock vxl back in?
Re: platinum slash4x4
im not sure yet, hopefully i can run it this weekend,if its too insane ill switch it back and build a elec revo.we shall see,its supposed to be nice this weekend,if my back doesnt hurt too much me and brian will get some bashing in..........
wow...........
just got back from bashing with sinister, used 1 3c lipo all i can say i that i am impressed!!!!we ran our 4x4s they are insane!!!i was doing 15 to 20 ft jumps over these dirt hills that the quad guys use it was intense, this thing is a beast...the only prob is the pebbles getting into the driveshaft tube,im gonna put a silicone washer in there to keep them out...did a number on the body but i knew that was gonna happen, later

beaven said "...the only prob is the pebbles getting into the driveshaft tube,im gonna put a silicone washer in there to keep them out" HA! then you are def not running it hard. Black tape around your drive shaft will work best also, cover the hole in back by the motor with a small peice of foam, cut into the shape of an "L" . Check your bearing on your center diff, mine seized yesterday and wiped out my spur and center diff... now i have the center diff at the mach. shop seeing if i can get a sleeve made for the bearing to ride on. The dirt comes from those 2 little holes on the rear skid plate/ bulkhead, plug those off with grub screws. also check for the rear module seperating from the chassis, mine did yesterday and I think that was one of the things that made my bearing fail. Do your rear wheels wooble? if so your axles are bent, and getting the bearings off the stub axle is nothing short of a pain in the ass once they are tweaked. just things to look for after a long day of bashing around.

Re: platinum slash4x4
didnt have any probs with the wheels wobbling ,stopped running when i got some sick screeching noises from the driveshaft, had to replace the spur gear cause the pinion loosened up but it did look like dirt got in there.i will take it apart to see ,but the driveshaft got chewed up,i like the tape idea,i brought some injector o rings home from work im gonna see how they fit, thanks for the input i appreciate it, this truck is sick,i beat the hell out of it and it begged for more!!!!!!!!!!!thanks steve

Re: platinum slash4x4
i see the 2 holes, ill fill them with black silicone, exactly where did you put the foam tape?the dirt did a number on my pinion gear,i have to get another one,the bearings are okay,i had to clean up the driveshaft and the tube was full of debris,i dont understand how they left that open, later
Re: platinum slash4x4
hey, scotty, are you using the slipper center diff or the fluid one?if you are using the slipper,i have a brand new one that you are welcome to,as i swapped it out before i even ran the truck.......... 8)by the way,i dont see how you could run the truck any harder than i did this weekend other than crashing into a wall or some other immovable object, exactly what the hell are you doing?????mamba monster 2650,3c lipo, full throttle, wow!!!!

Re: platinum slash4x4
as far as slipper/center diff i run whatever I have that's together at that time. If you would like to send one down, all 4x4 parts are welcome
As far as totaling the SC10 it almost been 6 months ago and I found my problem, a screwed up servo saver.
back to the 4x4's, my list of F.U.B.A.R.'d parts continues...1 velineon motor, i should really start documenting this.

Re: platinum slash4x4
i get the impression that you are very abusive, perhaps consoling would help...........where did you put that "l" shaped tape ,on the gear cover where it meets the chassis?
Re: platinum slash4x4
yep..when you had the slipper in the peice would cover the nut on the shaft.

Re: platinum slash4x4
did some work on my 4x4,took the diff out and changed the lube to 50wt,i also had a ceramic bearing left over from my show revo that fit the front of the rear diff, put that in and tightened all the screws scotty knocked loose(hahaha) i also put some more spacers in the rear shocks,we shall see how it feels now, later

Re: platinum slash4x4
i finally got both sets of 17mm hubs in and installed them with a new set of vppro buggy wheels and tires, with the other adjustments i made the truck feels a lot better.i was playing on the street in front of my house, nailed the throttle and destroyed my spur gear, had one extra,a 50 tooth, put that in with a steel 16 tooth pinion it seems good.i went on line to find some spurs but there are no listings,sheeeit...............
Re: platinum slash4x4
the jato spurs are for the slipper unit,i have the diff set up,thanks again...........
Re: platinum slash4x4
well i did a "scotty"today, sand got in the bearing for the center diff,it froze and wiped out the shaft it rides on,i put the slipper unit back in and adjusted it 1 turn from bottom but smoke was coming from it so i guess i will try making it tighter.personally i dont think the slipper can handle the mamba,we shall see...cant seem to find a listing for a new center diff on line, hope they are available soon, later
Re: platinum slash4x4
actually the center diff is only to be used on 2s (as per the instructions in the center diff package) the slipper is tougher. someone makes a dual slipper that is the supposed to take all the abuse you can throw at it.

Re: platinum slash4x4
i guess i didnt see that part when i installed it.i just tightened up the slipper and put in some lunsford hinge pins, nice stuff.i also put in an strc driveshaft because i somehow bent my stock one.the strc shock towers help stiffen the truck and the steering gear is tight and more responsive, the motor mount also stiffens up the chassis but it has openings that let in dirt, ill have to work on that, well later guys, steve
